Are you torn between buying the beautiful Toyota Corolla or the larger Camry? These are close siblings in Toyota’s current lineup, and they have been solid contenders for car shoppers for the last several decades. While they have a variety of common traits, they stand strongly apart in critical areas. After getting to know more about these popular car models with help from our team at Toyota of Southern Maryland, which model will you decide to make yours?

Performance

Both the 2022 Corolla and the 2022 Camry are offered with two powertrains. For the Corolla, the starting trim level has a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder, 139-horsepower engine with a continuously variable transmission. The other Corolla powertrain is a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, 169-horsepower engine with a dynamic-shift continuously variable transmission. On the other hand, the Camry has a four-cylinder engine connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the result is 203-horsepower output. A 206-horsepower variant is also available, and it stands apart with its sport-tuned suspension system.

Appearance

The 2022 Corolla and the latest Camry are easy to differentiate on the road. While both models have a tapered nose with a large, drop-down grille, the Corolla has a stronger angle through the hood and greater curvature through the roof. The LED headlights have a scythe-like shape, and the sides are gently contoured. The Camry has a more extended profile with leaner, pointed headlights. It also has light sculpting through the hood and gentle definition over the fenders.

Features

You will find numerous shared features as you compare the Corolla and the Camry. These include keyless entry, a push-button ignition, simulated leather or cloth material, heated front seats, and a sunroof. The Corolla has an 8-inch touch display screen, which bumps up to a 9-inch screen in the Camry. The Camry also has a heads-up screen, a JBL sound system, and additional assistive safety features in select trim levels.
